Nashville’s Bad Moon Blues steps in at Blue 5 for last minute Whitey Johnson cancellation
(Nashville, TN – June 29) A last minute cancellation by Whitey Johnson due to undisclosed illness opened a slot for Nashville’s Bad Moon Blues Band Sat. June 30 at Blue 5 from 9:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. Blue 5 is located at 312 Second Street in  Roanoke (540) 904-5338.
Well-known throughout the Nashville scene, Bad Moon is a pedigreed four-piece blues outfit proud to “play the blues what don’t get played.” Appearing frequently in Nashville’s  Bourbon Street Blues and Boogie Bar, the number one blues club in the country, Bad Moon plays originals, as well as covers from Muddy Waters, Tony Joe White, Delbert McClinton, Albert King, Keb Mo, and Son Seals to name a few.
Guitarist and lead singer, Tom Whisenhunt is a native Tennessean who grew up in Memphis where his father was a music journalist and took Whisenhunt on interviews that included meeting Elvis and Johnny Cash. Growing up in a burgeoning music scene exposed to country, blues, R&B and gospel Whisenhunt’s love for music and exceptional guitar players made an everlasting impression. He’s won several Bluesey Awards including Guitarist of the Year and CD of the Year, and appeared at the International Blues Competition three times.
Vic Mastrianni is a sought after drummer who’s  played with legendary musicians from many disciplines including BB King, Elvin Bishop, and J. J. Cale on the blues circuits; Reba McEntire, Crystal Gayle, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, and Ted Nugent are among the other luminaries he’s toured with since moving to Nashville in 1975. Bass player Richard Sanders, spent a decade touring the US and Canada with fire brand blues guitarist, Scott Holt. Sanders has returned to Nashville to pursue his songwriting. Sax player Peter Burger has toured more than twenty countries playing with many blues legends including BB King, Son Seals, Johnny Winter and Bobby “Blue” Bland.
